The Secret Sources of Wheat

Many of my friends ask how to get started.

I say it’s simple: Eliminate the obvious sources first. Pasta, Bread, Baked Goods.

But what about the hidden sources of wheat?

Did you know:

  • Smarties
  • Most fermented soya sauces use wheat in the process
  • Whey and maltodextrin can occasionally be sourced from wheat
  • Gravies
  • Many commercial sauces
  • Candies and candy bars (such as Nibs, licorice, sour carpets, Ferrero Rocher)
  • Pre-Packaged broth. Look for Gluten Free (i.e. Campbell’s Vegetable Broth)
  • Sausages (Pillers brand pepperettes and knackwurst have “gluten free” notations on their packaging)

We’ll update this post as we come across more secrets of the hidden wheat. Please come and visit anytime!
